There are many ways to travel while exploring this beautiful landscape of Australia in your caravan. Some choose to travel solo whilst others like to travel in a group.
Whether you choose to travel in a group or solo, here are some things to consider when deciding which option is best for you.
Travelling in a Group
There are many benefits of group travel and probably the most obvious and precious is the socialization. It can get lonely out on the road sometimes without other people and it’s nice to connect with friends and like-minded travellers. Seeing the sights and soaking up the essence of an area is definitely better in good company.
It’s also nice to have the added layer of security that caravanning in a larger group offers. There is the support group, and wealth of different knowledge and resources should anyone break down, get stuck etc There is strength in numbers, and it can be an extra reassurance to fall asleep knowing friends are nearby when travelling to unfamiliar areas. It is great to experience new places together and helps remove some of the anxiety of travelling alone in an unfamiliar landscape.
There are, however, a few challenges to consider that are usually very minimal and just come with the territory of coordinating with a larger group of individuals.
Different schedules, budgets and travel preferences come into play, so decisions on destinations, travel routes etc can take a little longer to make, in order to accommodate everyone. Travel with an open mind and be patient!
Travelling Solo
Choosing this option as we know it, gives you some freedom to choose where you want to go and when you want to go. You can also change your plans at any time, stay longer at a certain spot should you wish, and gives you the flexibility to plan your trip on the go. If you do plan to travel solo, make sure you have thoroughly checked the routes you’re planning to go on especially in terms of safety if you’re taking very remote or unfamiliar routes.
If you decide to go solo, make sure you are prepared for all situations. Consider the risks before you go and plan as best you can accordingly. Ensure you have adequate communication, fuel, water, food – all the essentials when travelling solo.
And if you do start off on a solo adventure, you never know….the open road has a way of bringing people together, and in the most unexpected places!
However you decide to explore our amazing country, take your time, enjoy and soak in all the magic it has to offer.
